1. Main factors affecting the long-term life of insulating glass seals (1) The design of insulating glass, including which spacers and structures are selected: single-channel sealing or double-channel sealing;

2. The selection of spacer strips mainly considers two factors: (1) heat transfer coefficient, and (2) the effect on the sealing life of the hollow window. Starting from the thermal conductivity, the spacers used for the insulating glass can be divided into two categories: cold edges and warm edges. Cold edge refers to the traditional metal aluminum frame. The warm edge refers to the material or structure of the spacer strip which is different from the traditional aluminum spacer strip. For example, the strip used in China (with a wave-shaped aluminum strip plus a seal containing desiccant) gum). Most of the spacers currently used in China are aluminum spacers, which are cold-edged types, which tend to cause condensation or frost on the edges, reducing the energy-saving effect of the entire window. 3. There are two main types of aluminum spacer strips: the traditional four-corner plug-in type and the improved continuous long-tube corner type. In the specific way, the four-corner plug-in type is divided into two types: the glue coating treatment and the non-gluing treatment at the joint. In general, the fewer the joints of the aluminum frame, the better the sealing performance, and the continuous long-angled aluminum frame with only one joint is much improved compared to the four-cornered joint. However, if the four-corner aluminum frame is glued at the joint and the continuous long tube is not coated, the sealing performance of the joint is not necessarily better than that of the joint.
In view of the fact that the spacer aluminum frames currently used in China (especially in small and medium-sized enterprises) are mostly four-corner type, and the manufacturing cost of the continuous long-angled aluminum frame is relatively high, the author believes that it is more practical to improve the sealing performance of the hollow window.
