Fujitsu Research Institute and the company's research institute in the United States (Fujitsu Laboratories, Inc., USA) have developed technologies that allow LTE femtocells used for indoor coverage to automatically detect the surrounding environment to reduce radio wave interference. The technology has been published at the International Society PIMRC 2013 (IEEE 24th Personal Wireless Mobile Communications International Conference), which opened on September 8, 2013 in London.
When a distance between a femto base station for indoor use or a macro base station such as a femto base station and a mobile phone base station is relatively short, the influence of radio wave interference causes a decrease in the communication speed, resulting in degradation of communication quality. The new technology is characterized by a femto base station that automatically reduces radio interference.

The technical diagram developed this time Fujitsu research materials
First, the femto base station obtains information of neighboring macro base stations, information of macro terminals connected to the macro base station, information of neighboring femto base stations, and information of terminals connected to itself. Then, according to the information of the macro base station, the signal transmission time is set in conjunction with the time when the macro base station sends the signal.
Also, the femto base station separates the control channel for distributing the data channel and the data channel for data communication to reduce the interference of the control channel. Specifically, based on the information of the terminal connected to itself, the transmission power of the control channel is changed in accordance with the communication quality, and in addition, the interference between the base stations is avoided and the transmission band of the data channel is divided based on the information of the surrounding environment.
The simulation results of the Fujitsu Research Institute confirm that repeating these operations at regular intervals can increase the communication speed by approximately twice, and that macro-terminal communication, which was originally impossible because of too much interference, can be achieved.
According to the Fujitsu Research Institute, if it is not necessary to perform detailed location determination and parameter adjustment, a femto base station can be set up, and it is hoped that the indoor user's communication speed will be improved without affecting the surrounding outdoor users. The company will continue to verify the technology in the future and strive to achieve practical use in 2013. (Reporter: Mori Mino, Tech-On!)
