The probability that a large amount of radioactive material is released to the environment is less than 10-7/year, which is 1-2 orders of magnitude lower than the existing second-generation nuclear power technology. The economy and environmental compatibility have been further improved to meet the latest nuclear safety standards in the world and have reached the world's leading level.
National Nuclear Technology stated that the preliminary design of CAP1400 through model development and common technology research has played an important role in digesting and absorbing world advanced technologies, comprehensively upgrading China's nuclear power industry technology level, and driving the localization, autonomy, and industrial chain construction of high-end equipment. . At present, nearly one hundred units across the country participate in the CAP1400 model-related work, and its key equipment has basically achieved autonomous design and localized manufacturing. It is expected that the rate of autonomy of the first CAP1400 nuclear power unit will reach 80%. A group of test benches with advanced world standards have been completed. Some of the key tests have been completed. The data obtained has effectively supported the CAP1400 design and safety review. The digital reactor protection system and key design analysis software were developed as planned. About 60% of the CAP1400 construction design has been completed.
China National Nuclear Technology revealed that the CAP1400 nuclear power demonstration unit plans to build two units in Shandong Rongcheng, and the National Development and Reform Commission approved the preliminary work in March 2013. The preparatory work for the demonstration project construction is progressing in an orderly manner, with the conditions for starting construction this year.
