[Integrated] smart helmet can "predict" the danger

Safety helmets are common on the construction site, but ordinary safety helmets can only protect the top of the head when the danger occurs. Zhong Chen, a junior student at Fuzhou University, invented a "smart helmet" that can "predict" the occurrence of danger and send out an alert to remind workers to quickly evade.

Zhong Chen is a student of the Electronic Information Engineering College of the Ocean University of Fuzhou University and a member of the Fuzhou University’s Center for Philanthropic Assistance Practice.

Recently, Zhong Chen showed reporters a demonstration video of this smart helmet. The appearance of the helmet is no different from that of an ordinary helmet, except that sensors and alarms are installed on the top of the helmet. I saw a man wearing a safety helmet and lying on the floor, holding a book behind him. As the book fell from the sky, the helmet issued a "squeaky" siren.

Zhong Chen introduced safety helmets equipped with distance sensors, handlers and alarm devices. When there is an object falling from a height, a certain distance from the top of the head, the sensor will sense that the alarm device makes a harsh sound and reminds the worker to avoid it.

"At present, this smart helmet is only a prototype. Due to the sensor, it can only alarm within 3 meters from the falling helmet." Zhong Chen said. He is improving the sensor, expanding the sensing distance and safety distance, and adjusting it based on factors such as people's reaction time and flight speed.
