After the stock market closed on September 25, the Canadian Lukla Diamond Company announced the sale of diamonds. In 2015, Lukla discovered this rare diamond in the Karwe diamond mine in Botswana. Its name "Lesedi La Rona" is Botswana, meaning "the light of my generation." According to Lukala, this is the largest gem-quality diamond ever discovered in more than a century, and the only diamond that is larger than it is the "Cullinan" that was discovered in South Africa in 1905, with a total of 3,106 carats. However, "Cullinan" was later cut into pieces, some of which were used to make the crown of the British royal family. Lukla’s company initially hoped that “the light of our generation†could sell at least 70 million US dollars (about 460 million yuan), but the prices of the two auctions this year and last year did not meet expectations. Although the price given by Graf Jewels has exceeded the highest price ever produced by Sotheby’s last year, it is still worse than the price of the “Constellation†diamond sold by Lukla last year.
