Fertilizer production slightly increased in September

After a sustained decline in production in the first few months, fertilizer production in September reversed the downward trend and turned into a slight increase. According to the latest statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics, China's total production of chemical fertilizers was 6.2302 million tons in September this year (constrained quantity, the same below), an increase of 0.1% year-on-year. However, due to the declining output in the past few months, China's cumulative production of 20.2533 million tons of chemical fertilizers in the first nine months of this year was still a negative year-on-year increase.

The largest contribution to September production growth was in potash fertilizers. In September, China produced 680,200 tons of potash fertilizer, a year-on-year increase of 24.2%. In the first nine months, cumulative production of potash fertilizer was 4.5084 million tons, an increase of 11.6% year-on-year. The potash fertilizer output can grow at a high rate of over 20%. On the one hand, China is a country lacking potassium, unlike the problem of overcapacity like nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers. On the other hand, although the price of potash fertilizer has fallen significantly compared to last year, the company can still maintain A certain amount of profit, so the company's production enthusiasm has not been greatly affected, the operating rate is high. In September, the production of potash fertilizers in Qinghai and Xinjiang, two major potassium-producing provinces in China, showed a large increase. Among them, Qinghai produced 518,400 tons of potash fertilizer, an increase of 31.5%; Xinjiang produced 54,800 tons of potash, an increase of 24.4%.

However, due to the low prices of nitrogen fertilizers and phosphate fertilizers, corporate production enthusiasm is affected and output is still negative. In September, China produced a total of 4.0542 million tons of nitrogen fertilizer, a year-on-year decrease of 0.9%. In the first nine months, it produced a total of 35,421,100 tons of nitrogen fertilizer, a year-on-year decrease of 3.1%. In September, China produced a total of 1.944 million tons of phosphate fertilizer, a year-on-year decrease of 5.6%; the cumulative production for the first 9 months was 12,1002 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 3.5%.
